Council Member Keir Jones has lived in Signal Hill for the past eleven years and is an active community member. His passion for public service and community involvement dates back to his early college years but was awaken during California’s battle over Proposition 8 which banned LGBTQ marriages in California.
Prior to his record-breaking election to the Signal Hill City Council in March of 2019, he served as the appointed City Clerk. During that time, he helped increase voter turnout in the November 2018 elections to one of the highest turnouts in decades. Council Member Jones continued that record setting trend with his own election where he received and overwhelming 700 votes, the most for a City Council candidate in the history of the city.
As a small business owner, Council Member Jones operates an award winning insurance agency. His creative and pragmatic leadership will ensure that he is both a dynamic and effective leader in the region on behalf of Signal Hill. In addition to his role as a City Council Member, Keir’s passion for service is rooted in the community where he has served on several boards. Currently, he is the President of the Signal Hill Community Foundation and is leading the effort to raise an $1,000,000 endowment for the new Signal Hill Library and provide funding for COVID-19 relief.
Council Member Jones lives on Hill Street with his husband, Thomas-Michael, and his schnauzer, Winston.
